My friend got this snake, he believes its a corn, but had no idea what kind. He asked his friends, other herpers, but no one could ID it. He's not a corn fan so he gave it to me. Can anyone help? I originally thought bloodred from his discription, but when I actually saw it, its a purplish burgandy in color, not red

It is a pretty snake, but it doesn't look much like a corn snake--I don't know what kind of snake it is though!

Thanks guys. My local reptile shop has one of these.. or so the sign says... I've yet to see the critter out of hiding...sigh....

yup - corns have round pupils and that guy has slits (you can see them better in low light). A big indicator it's not a corn, if your friend doesn't believe you XD

It's really pretty too, I don't think I've ever seen such a clear picture of one.

thats what caught my eye in the first place the cat like eyes (which is why I took so many pics of it its just awsome looking).

Thanks, my camera usually doesnt take very good pics ><

Tis a Brown House snake...I believe you folks across the big water call them "African house snakes"...

They are AWESOME snakes, make LOVELY pets!!!!! Their care is the same as corn snakes.
