ok i got my snake back from the shop (where he was being treated for mites) on monday, he had been in htere for about 10 days, fed him monday afternoon, and since then he hasnt been out from under his hide at all. I left him for 48 hours after feeding so as not to disturb the digestion process but checked him this morning, when i lifted the hide off him, all he seemed to weant to do was hide somewhere, he even buried himself in the substrate so i couldnt catch him. What im wondering is, is he coming up to shed and i missed the signs because he was at the shop, or is he stressed or depressed or even unwell? Please someone help me im at a loss. :shrugs:

Mite infestations have been known to cause stress to snakes, moving from place to place also has been known to cause stress. My guess is the snake is a little stressed out and you should just let him settle back in to his viv. Just leave him alone for a week or two only disturbing him to give fresh water.

But just about every thing you mentioned could be the cause of his unusual behavior except him being depressed (Snakes do not have emotions like us humans). Just keep an eye out for any true signs of illness without bothering him to much. Hopefully it is just a little stress, and if that is the case, with a little bit of settling time he should be back to his normal self.

thanks, i think your probably right but im such a panicker! It dosent seem like hes coming out to drink or anything though so im worried he will dehydrate!

I take him out of his viv and into another container to eat so do you think i should still feed him on saturday or just leave him till hes settled?

Also 1 more thing, i bought him about 3 weeks ago and forgot to ask how old he is, he is about a foot long, a couple of centimetres wide, any suggestions as to how old he may be and if im feeding the right size food, he eats 1 pinkie every 5 - 7 days, the lump dosent last much longer than 8 or so hours?

Aww poor baby is just stressed, as for water just mist the cage and make sure to get him if he's thirsty he'll drink the drops from his body.

try feeding him every 4 days if pinkies aren't cutting it or go to fuzzies IF he's big enough to take em. Hope all goes well =)

hes taken to hiding underneath his water bowl now, still seems very stressed and not particulary sociable, supposed to have a feed today so will see how he gets on with that.
How big are they supposed to be to move onto fuzzies?
