...with Zuko, my Nicaraguan Boa. Not that I don't love all of my snakes dearly, but he is just special.
A local herper who volunteers with herps at the zoo (great guy) rescued him and his sister several months back from people who didn't want them anymore. They were being cohabbed (as ~2 year old adults) and fed once every other month or so. According to Steve (the good guy) they were cold and emaciated when he saw them. He of course immediately snatched them up and spent several months rehabilitating them. The female is getting a great home, and I got little Zuko. He is tiny! I know Nics are small, but wow. You guys can correct me if I am wrong, as this is my first Nicaraguan, but I think he's even smaller than usual due to the fact he wasn't fed properly most of his life and was almost starved to death. But he is just so nice. When you pick him up, he surfs around for a minute and checks everything out, but stays in your hand. Once he gets comfy he just sits there indefinitely. He'll fall asleep with you walking around a store. He throws a little temper tantrum when you put him away. I know I'm personifying him a bit, but it almost feels like he enjoys human company. Regardless of his true intentions, he's just cool to hang with.
Anywho, I <3 my little guy. I have a strong soft spot for any animal that has suffered abuse or neglect. Though I love all my guys, he and my CRB are just a little extra special.
Oh yeah! A picture!
I'm pretty sure that he's about to shed... but the picture was taken with a flash in a dark room anyway, so it's not spectacular to begin with. But he's still cute as a button!
