In/Out of Brumation during shipping

I'm getting a male shipped to me this week. The previous owner already started the brumation process and will be shipping him on an empty stomach with a heat pack in the box. My questions are: Should I keep him in brumation or should I plan to warm him up when he gets here? I am hoping to breed him this spring and had considered brumation rather than feeding through the winter. If I warm him up should I then wait a couple of weeks and cool him off for brumation?

My primary concern is the health of the snake. My secondary concern is doing what I can to facilitate a successful breeding as it will be my first. Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise!

Even in the wild, temps can spike during brumation. When you get him and you confirm that he's reasonably healthy, continue his brumation period.

2 weeks ago I got 4 beautiful girls from Carol for a breeding loan. She had started brumating them October 20. I got them, checked them all over and put them down in my basement to continue their brumation. I have changed their water and checked them 3 times so far and they seem to be doing just fine :)
