Interesting research on day old chicks as snake food

Regardless of their nutritional content, I don't use them because they smell really bad coming out of the snake.:puke02:

Interesting indeed. The one standout thing I noticed was the calcium content. DOC's lagged far behind rats or mice in that category. Since snakes derive the majority of calcium from their prey (of course) I'd imagine that the higher calcium content would be desired. I thought that chicks had higher fat content but in fact rats and mice do. They still leave stinky stuff when eaten though and they cost more so rats and mice will stay the staple for me.
