Is he gonna shed soon?

Since I got the habitat sorted out, I've basically just left stu alone to do his own thing in the tank. I've noticed that the last few times he's gone to the bathroom he's done so in his water dish. This is "unusual" in that he usually likes to go beside it.

This shows he's obviously been spending time in the water and is fine by me, much easier to clean out the water dish.

I had him out today just to get him out and snapped these pics of his skin.

I'm there are a couple spots that look like this and I don't know if you can see it in the pics but there appear to be some small looking wrinkles around these areas on a few scales.

His hide is rather humid and has condensation all over the inside but the temps I'm reading on his body when I check the opening of the cave are about 82. The actual hide usually reads right around the same temp too so that should be pretty accurate.

Are any of these signs that he'll be shedding a skin soon?

I don't see any signs of blue'ing I don't think but his hide is humid and moist and he also is a bit moist.

He's the one whos made it moist though by going in his dish and bringing water back in there with him.

Honestly it looks like the early signs of scale rot. I have a snake who keeps getting it, he was so used to living in a DRY habitat that when I got him in correct humidity BAM he got it. So I have to watch his humidity level and inspect him each time he is out for it. I treat by cleaning the cage with a betadine wash (3 tbsps betadine to 1/2 gal water-might not be strong enough since he keeps getting it) and by applying althete's foot cream to the affected areas. It goes away with these treatments but I may increase air flow even more and up the betadine to 4 tbsps to 1/2 gallon at the next outbreak.

So here's what I've done. I moved stuff around in his tank andput his fav rock on the cool side. Now he never leaves the cold side.

I haven't been handling him, I figured I'd be stressing him out.

I noticed his skin looking a little "pale" today and lifted the rock.

His eyes are cloudy so I don't know now if he is in need of medical care or just going to shed.

I'm not sure if I should feed him either. It's been 10 days since his last rat.

Dont know what I should be doing now.

If his eyes are cloudy, he's likely blue and getting ready to shed. I wouldn't feed him until he's done shedding just to be on the safe side (some feed while their snakes are blue...I tend not to out of personal preference because I have had problems with it, plus a lot of times my snakes will refuse while blue)

He'll go clear a day or two before he sheds, so don't be alarmed if his eyes clear up but you don't see a shed right away. Mine usually shed within 2-3 days of going blue.

I'd just leave him be, TBH. They're very nervous when their eyes are cloudy and you risk stressing him further.

Here is a normal about to shed:

In the first photos it doesn't look like he's in blue, but he may be now because of the cloudy eyes. Honestly I don't see any signs of scale rot.

Soaking is not something you do unless the snake is having problems shedding. In this case you soak them in water that is lukewarm. What is warm to us is hot to them since they're cold blooded.

Do keep an eye on the odd spot, if it is still there post shed he may have skin issues. If it is gone after he sheds then he just got wrinkly lol.

I'm looking at him now and his eyes have cleared, and he seems less pale. Almost normal in color again.

I don't know about this blue thing but how blue is it? Cause i thought he looked more milky/pale than blue.

Milky pale is good. You can sometimes see a bluish tint, but it's subtle...

Clearing up before the shed is also normal.

The milky/cloudy is referred to as 'blue' because a lot of times there is a blue tint to the eyes. There is a clear phase immediately following blue.

Mine all shed within a day or two of going clear.

No signs of him actually trying to shed yet. But he never leaves his rock. Like never.

However he doesn't seem scared or stressed when I remove his rock or take him out.

He and my cat were having a "sniff off" just the other day.

Not sure what I should about feeding. It's been just about 3 weeks since his last meal.

Having them go 3 weeks without food is fine, my corn snake refuses to eat for 5-8 weeks in late spring/early summer. She doesn't even strike at the mouse (I feed her live ones).
Your snake should shed soon, if he has gone clear.

I just looked over and noticed the tail end of him slithering back into his rock..... And 4 feet of snake skin wrapped around his tank and tree.

Came off nice and clean but he took a crap in it. So I'm gonna clean it tomorrow when it dries a bit.
