So I went to pick up my baby amel today and he did not like that one bit. I have had him for over a month and he is very used to daily handlings. I approached him the same way today as I do every handling. The temps are fine and he isn't hungry because he was fed three days ago. Is there a chance he may be getting ready to shed? I can't really see much of a difference in his skin tone and his eyes didn't opaque for his first shed. I heard it was tough to tell in amels so I don't know if he is going to shed. What might have caused his behavior change? I am not worried at all I am just a little curious. My Cal king gets like this sometimes so I'm used to it.

You've never had a leave me the hell alone day, lol All my animal have those days don't take it personal. He could be about to shed, but more than likely he was dreaming of some hottie snake and you ruined it (just kidding). Try again in a few days mine have done the ame thing for no reaon and are just fine being handled normally.

It does sound like he's coming up to a shed. It can rattle the calmest Corn, especially when they're little. Leave him in peace for a couple of days and expect to see a shed appearing near you soon!

Bitsy,
The amel just might be have been sleeping and you scared the poop out of it. Some do have issues as they go into or out of blue. Be gentle and I am sure your snake will come around.

You might want to keep a note card on the amel so you know when things happen, sheds, refused meals, and such. They are not all "norm" to the general rules.

I have a snow that is wicked! She hisses, spits, coils up and at times falls over. She will jump up at you and she WILL bite. Yes, she is getting better as she ages, but she is just one of those not so normal corns.

Best of Luck
PJ
