Is it an hypo lavender? ;)

Lilou

Italian sweetie ^.^
Hi guys!
This is the new entry of my collection. This little jewel is an outcross bloodred hypo lavender (is the order of the names right?)

Can You confirm the hypo? I'm a little doubtful because he's not got ruby eyes..

Thanks! :)

Ilaria

To me the order is not important. Hypo Lavender bloodred or Bloodred Hypo Lavender. I do use Bloodred as the last gene. Myself. ie Caramel Bloodred. and so on.

That is a very nice Hypo Lav'. Congrats. It's iris's do have a ruby look to them.

I normally do not try to correct someone's grammar & useages. But I did read your signature. So. In this sentence you asked

I'm a little doubtful because he's not got ruby eyes.

I would have typed something like this instead.

I'm a little doubtful. Because he does not have ruby eyes.

Thanks Jeff, for the "hypo" answer, and the correction too! :D
You're so kind :)

I won't say a definite yes or no on it's being a hypo lavender as there is an overlapping between light lavenders and dark hypolavenders. There is a tendency for males to be lighter than females, so if this is a male, I might lean towards it not being homozygous hypo. And ruby eyes is not always present in hypo lavenders. But that is just my opinion. The really only guaranteed way to know would be to breed it to a known hypo. But I will say that the belly does have that het bloodred appearance!

I would be very hestitant to say it is a Hypo. My het. Bloodred, Lavender looked very much the same and has no Hypo in it. When Bloodred is in the mix with Lavenders colors seem to be more light and more purple-ish.

I totally agree with Susan, there can be a very wide swing in the pheno look of a hypo lavender.. The only one I hatched last year, IMHO, does not have a strong hypo look to it, but the parents were both hypos..
