I recently got my 11 inch long snake from a breeder through a pet store. I never see her out in the viv, in fact I barely see her at all! It doeesn't look like she uses her water dish for anything, and all she does is hide under the paper towel in her cage all the time. Is this normal behaviour, is Kali (snake) sick, or is she just shy?

Well, mine do that to. I got them 2 weeks ago and only yesterday i caught one browsing for a second. But i guess there more out deep in the night as i find some messings in the cage.
I'd say give them some time to adjust. I don't know if there ill or not, but this seems like normal behaviour to me.

That's just fine. Most snakes hide a lot. If you stay up late, you'll probably see the snake cruising around. :)

okay, its just that i hear a lot of people mentioning their snakes being out in the daytime, and mine isnt so jus makin sure, never hurts to check :)

sorry to be :-offtopic but i have multiple layers of newspaper with a layer of paper towels on top, and since shes spending so much time in between the two, how will the ink on the newspaper affect her?

I put in a post about post feeding behavior and just behavior of snakes. When I got my little girl seems to be the same time you got yours. Wed. of this past week.

What she does is about just after dusk go crusing around the viv, I watched her for about 3 hours just investigating the whole viv, she made me tired just looking at her. Durning the day she hides under the paper towel, I can see where she is at dispite the aspen substrate.

But you have to remember each snake is different, my green rough crusies durning the day and her at night, so It makes up for it I suppose.

I notice her movement has be much lower snice feeding time however.

I have yet to see any post where newspaper has affect snakes.. I have just about read every post on this forum. I think your snake would be okay, if your really worried get paper towel and use some aspen substrate, That's what I do.

Most, if not all newspaper ink is totally fine. It won't rub off on your snake or harm the snake in any way. :)

And every snake IS different. Some corns I have will be out all the time and others, I barely see until I have food thawing. The variety is half the fun! :D
