Is Little Dani 'really' a CandyCane?

Little Dani is now a yrling & by far the largest of all 4 of my corns. He is so long & has really gotten so pretty. He is oranging out a lot. Is this what yrling CandyCane's do? Can anyone post a pic of theirs? I have looked online & Dani looks more orange than white. Why is that? I don't plan on breeding him, he is just a pet & he was sold to me as a CandyCane.
Here are some photos I just took of him. I will weigh him. He's last meal was a wk ago.

I would probably not personally call him a candy cane. For my expectations there's not enough white. :shrugs: Doesn't take away from him being a gorgeous snake!

I totally agree, I wonder what he is het for? What do you see in him??
Here is another photo & I will post a baby pic. He was red/white w/ a little orange just around the upper part of his head. At the time I bought him I did not care what he was called, Daniella just wanted "The Princess Snake" LOL :D

So now I wonder if he is really a CandyCane or something else? He has red eyes.

Miami is supposed to be the smallest of all locality corns. And Candy Cane being an Amel Miami you would not suspect it to be the fastest grower of your collection. It looks a lot like a Creamsicle I once had. Creams grow very hard and lay big eggs. Lovely corn in any way :)

Awwwwww I like Creams! Thank you for you responding.

Here he is in July 07 when we got him. He was around 6-8wks old

sorry for the blur I was using a cellphone. You can see his red underneath is now a orangey yellow.

Amel. I'd agree there's too much orange to be a candy cane.

A creamsicle is a hybrid, not an actual corn, by the way. Candy cane is also not an "amel miami". It's just a selectively bred amel with a very white background color. It doean't mean that the snake should be smaller than any of your others.

Consider it a pretty amel.

Creamsicle is not actually a corn allright. But it is not a hybrid eighter. Creams are intergrades. But looking at the pictures from when he was young I would say it is definatly a Candy cane. But it is just growing up to be an 'ugly' (with respect) candy cane but a beautifull corn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the first Candy Canes were started from Miami lines. Obviously, they don't have to come from Miami lines, but they should have as much white as possible in the background.

Often times hatchlings will look like sharp Candy Canes, but then the orange start's coming in! That's something you can't really predict sometimes. :shrugs:

Well, candy cane or not I think he is absolutely beautiful! I really love the look of orange snakes.

Perhaps he is an "orange flavored" candy cane.:grin01:

I guess it's just me, but once a corn starts getting that orange background (even if it looked perfect originally), it's no longer classified as a candy cane.

at the baby pics you can see that it is a candy cane
but pore bad luck the most candy cane's turn out yellow
after the first year
I have got alsow an candy cane female but now one year later she is turning out yellow to bad no perfect candy cane but I have got the luck that I got adult candy cane's (the real one)

OMGosh I love yalls honesty!! *TG* I did not want any smoke blown up my _____ on this one! LOL
I swear he is a 'Fugly' CandyCane...LOL
He is beautiful in person & he does have yellow too on him & his saddles are wanting to turn an orangey/red.
As a baby he was really red/white w/ just a hint of orange.

I love to see 'the real CandyCanes' please post some more.

So is he a CandyCaneCorn or a Amel or Creamsicle? I believe one of the parents was a CandyCane not sure what the other was....any ideas

He is an amel. Unless he has Emoryi blood in him, he would not be a cream. I would also consider him to be a poor quality candy cane, as he started out with that very white background. I probably wouldn't call him a candy cane, myself, as he doesn't exhibit what's most desirable in a candy cane - the white background. He's a light amel.

those don't look like candy canes. they are nice amels, but not candy canes. they look like my little milly, who is an RO

that litter came out of 2 candycanes, so selective bred isn't always wright.
we also don't classify the litter as a candy cane now, but both parents are candy cane. so it's possible to get amels out of candy's.
or some people would say then a very ugly candy, but i would call it amel.

but we wait what our adult candy's give us for litters this year, then we will show some pics, if everything goes well.
