Is my vivarium at right temperature

I have a 5'x18"x18" vivarium for an adult male.

The hot end has a large heat mat, and a 50w heat bulb (in a cage).

BY DAY
Lamp on (heat mat off)
30 deg C in hot end, 22 deg C in cold end

BY NIGHT
Lamp off (heat mat takes over as temp drops)
22 deg C in hot end, 20 deg C in cold end

I thought that, to within a degree, this is about right

But Suzy, my snake, seems to stay down the cool end most of the time?

Is that OK?

Thanks

Your temps aren't too high, but maybe your snake doesn't feel right at the high temp. My snake will stay out of her warm hide for the most part, unless she's digesting. I tried lowering the temp a little on that side and it made no difference, I guess she just prefers mid-high 70s.
Kathy Love had a great idea for a long PVC pipe hide that covered most of the length of a viv, with holes for access in the side. Your snake can hide in any temp it chooses.

It's not the hides ... even with hides he lies on open, sometimes against the glass. He's quite timid. So now I don't even have hides in there. SOmetimes he buries himself in the aspen, but mostly is out.

I guess it's OK then

Thanks
