Hi all i have two corn snakes witch i want to breed this year but i don't know if my female is big enough she weighs 400g and is over a meter long.
I'm planing on breeding her to my butter male who weighs 900g.
i would like your opinions on if i should go ahead and breed them,
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, she's certainly physically big enough! How "in shape" is she? Does she have nice strong muscles? Does she et regular exercise? You can test her fitness by holding her by the last quarter of her body, letting her dangle straight down, and seeing if she can easily pull herself up to your hand, or is she has to struggle to do so. Things that can increase her fitness and strength are swimming, climbing stairs, or just general supervised crawling, keeping her safe while doing so.

Sounds like the male is mature enough. We go by the at least 3 yrs old, 3 feet long and 300 gram rule. It's a little late in the season to start breeding but you can try. Females and males can be non-responsive if the female is no longer ovulating. Also breeding is a big deal. Make sure you have done your research here and have read Kathy & Billy Love's book before you start any breeding.

Breeding a snow to a butter you should get amels het caramel and anery. But who knows if they have any hets that will match up. Good luck!

Correct they will produce amel het caramel, anery.I plan on keeping back a pair of hachlings when and if i breed this year, and breeding the hachling pair when they reach maturity which will produce amels, snows, butters and maybe if i'm lucky xanthic snows.

Forgive me if I'm reading this wrong... but isn't it a little late for brumation?
