Is this normal?

So I was just wondering if it is normal for hatchlings to be kinda scared of the owner? When I pick my snake up he just wants to get away from me. I first got him like 3 weeks ago, and he is like one and a half feet long. I just want him to feel more relaxed with me. Will this be taken care of as he grows and if I handle him every day?

He's still in his "OMG, he's going to eat me" mind frame. It will just take time for him to realize you won't harm him.

Handle him as much as you can each day (except when he's eaten) and he will relax.. although there are some snakes that don't get used to it.. but most do.

He'll be fine... just remain patient

I would try holding him in your cupped hand, up to your chest, rather than in your fingers like you can with a relaxed snake. They feel a lot safer like that. And I'd do short periods of time- 15 minutes or so, till you start to feel like the snake is calmer. My babies are all fed in deli cups, and weighed beforehand, and I feel like even that minimal regular handling makes them very relaxed and "compliant" in just a few weeks.

Hm, okay I see. I guess I'm just overreacting about this. It is my first snake and I feel a little worried about him, I don't wanna do any mistakes. I will continue doing what I am doing, and I hope it will turn out well. Thank you for your replies ! :)
