Is this normal.......

Hi all,
Hope ev1 is doing ok. I went to feed my breeder mice this morning and when I looked in the tank I seen a dead mouse with blood everywhere. I was thinkin omg please let it be one of the females. and of course it was the male. he had the side of his face gone. is this normal behaviour of females. i got 2 females with the one male in a 10 gal tank. there are 7 babies in tank to. they had food and water. so..... lol

I have had females turn on males out of the blue. Up till recently I have pulled females out just before they have pups. I have one group that I leave togethre. But I have had the same situation you are talking about they all slept together and everything then one day females just turned on him what a nasty sight to walk into.

I don’t know what the girls are like in Newfoundland but She Who Must be Obeyed will bite your head off sometimes. I think it is a hormone thing.

I think in the tone of your reply, your sig should read something different for that last post.
Something like: Where the mice are mice, and the men are scared?

I have had the occasional (overly protective) female mouse attack and occasionally succeed in killing her mate when there are babies around but its soooo rare! Saying that I found that my Dutch strains were alot more aggressive than all my other lines so I guess that its down to genetics and maybe your strains are more hormonal?
I'd just leave the lad in for two week with his ladies and then remove him when they start to show if you have a doe like that... evil woman!!!

Kat
