I have just taken a peep at my incubating eggs and noticed one had pipped and the snake was fully out of the egg also attached is the cord! this happened to me last year and the snake made a full recovery but this is alot worse than last year the eggs where only at day 51 what do you guys recon my chances of my little ones survival?
i have put the little one intro a small tub on wet kitchen roll for now is there anything else i could be doing??

any advice is gratefully accepted :) x

I had one hatchling that emerged with the umbilical cord and yolk still attached last year Becky. I did exactly what you just did, only after two days, I exchanged the moistened paper towel with dry paper towel. The remaining yolk sac dried up and eventually fell off. The hatchling had no problems after that and was as normal as any of my other hatchling, except a little smaller.

hey im glad to say that this morning i checked on the wee one and the chord has come off he has been left with a tiny peice poking out but nothing major, he seems happy enough crusing around the container! i though he may be the only one to pip but two more have come out there eggs this morning also but its only day 52 ?? is there a reason for this?? i know its defo not temperature related temps have been kept same throughout ?

What temp have you been keeping the eggs at, and are they eggs separate or in a clump?

In a clump, the ones nearest the heat source will have been warmest and will hatch first. I had one lot of eggs take a fortnight to hatch from first to last egg. However, that was the longest period and it's usual for my clutches to take 3-4 days overall.

They'll appear in their own good time - don't worry!

Alo, IME, corns that emerge with the cord attached were scared / forced out of the egg too early. When in doubt, leave them alone and wait.

thanks for your reply but I can honesty hand on heart say that these corns are left well alone only checks that are made are made through the incubator which is see through! the last thing I wish to do is "force" the snakes out of there eggs! I am not an impatient breeder so please so not make this assumption :)
