Hello Everyone,
Some of you may have noticed I've been away for a couple of weeks. I've had a few surprises over the last little while, the big one being I've lost my job. I'm fine financially, I'll be receiving a fairly hefty severance and EI and the boy is fully employed...but it was a rather big slap in the face after five years of dedication.
I used my lunch breaks to check my e-mail and such so I guess I wont be back regularly until I get the net at home (not likely, we couldnt afford it before).
There was one other piece of news that | could only share with you folks for it to be appreciated. I've got eggs! My female Anery was gravid. She gave me a clutch of 11 eggs, all healthy. They're incubating now. We shall see what comes out, but I'm expecting all normals...unless i'm super lucky and get a snow. I wasnt really expecting a clutch, the female was co-habbed before I got her so I knew there was a chance...but it was still a supprise.
Also, I've got mice. A friend of mine works at the pet store, and a group of baby mice were orphaned, so she's going to give them to me. I've raised new borns before, so we'll see how this goes...cross your fingers for me.

Anyway, I miss this place and you folks alot....i find being unemployed I'm feeling very out of the loop...almost forgotten...you know? I'm sure I'll find something else...and there is a small measure of comfort knowing that two other staff quit the day I was let go. lol
take care, CS.com. I promise pics the next time I drop in. :)

wow

From everything I read you seem like a very cool person, hope you find another job soon.Maybe you can go use the computers at the public library if you have one close to you
Good Luck Hope all works out for you..:)

Good luck with the incubation and for finding a new job...
Make use of the time to take a break... and don't fret, you'll be employed in no time.

(((Rosie))) Look at it this way -- you will have more time to candle eggs 10x daily if you are unemployed. Seriously, though, you have skills and a good attitude, a job will come along. Good luck & hang in there!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!! I have been trying to treat this as a vacation a little... its been a long time since I've had a summer off!!!
things with the eggs are well...mould was an issue but I've fixed them up with the listerine trick. It came back on two of them badly, and I removed them from the rest of the clutch...when I cut them open they were NOT still good.
I've been spending alot of time with the pets...its been fun to be around home more. I really do miss the social side, I lost alot of friends with the job...so I wish I could at least be on here more. that would help!
Take care everyone...I miss you all!!!

I totally know what you mean on the "out of the loop" feeling... I left my job in November to follow my hubby who got a promotion and we moved to a different city. I'm now on EI for parental benefits (my daughter is six months old now) and I think if it weren't for forums like these I'd go bonkers!!

Where abouts in Canada are you? Do you have Shaw cable in your area? If you do send me a PM! I might be able to help you out on the internet front :)

Rosie, great to hear from you and hope that your search for another job doesn't drag out too long. Good luck to you!!!

CONGRATS on the eggs as well!! Hope you can get pics of them up sometime! :)

Thanks Fred I will. This whole waiting for them to hatch thing is taking forever! lol
I'll put up pics early in the week...both of my mousey friends and the eggs.

Cattsy, Thanks for the offer! I'll look into it, I think we do...but I'll have to check. I'm in atlantic Canada, so perhaps not. but either way, Thanks! I do feel a little nuts, but I've started voulenteering at the animal shelter more...and i'm helping a friend who's just gone back to work after having her baby. so i'm keeping busy.
Take care everyone!
