I've found a desert snake in a trip. Can someone tell me what kind of snake it is?

Sounds like a saw scaled viper. I don't know my snakes of Israel well enough to say for sure, but I can tell you that it's venomous. Too cool!

COOL!
First thing that came to my mind was also viper, but not sure on the exact type. Very neat, venomous, find :D

Horned vipers are awesome! Too bad they had to be venomous :/... one of the first snakes that caught my eye.

Definitely a horned viper...couldn't see the horns at first but the markings are definitely it. Awesome find!!! It's your version of the C. cerastes cerastes we have here in the US. Ours has a rattle but they are similar species...

thanx for the replies!
actually, we saw so many from this king of snake, that we almost were sick of them... lol
anyway, can't wait for the next trip!

"Almost sick of them".......WHAT??? you can't be a herper and complain about finding lots of snakes.....I was thrilled when I had a day where I found 26 snakes......makes up for the days where you find nothing....

i can't agree more.. it was a joke:laugh:
but after you find 30 snake, all of theme from the same kind- you start to hope for another kind of snake... just for the variety:bird:

Well, there is that...when I was snake hunting in Costa Rica we caught 5 coral snakes and spotted another 3....after a while it was...hmmm, another coral..but of course there were the three eyelash vipers we saw every night.....but then you find some special ones!

I still love to find black racers and I can usually count on finding at least a couple every trip....they are one of my favorites for some reason and the one I catch the most often.

Yep, after all- the finding of the snakes is the most exciting thing in those trips!

that was the point of the trip...snake hunting. Had a wonderful time...exhausting but fun...met some great people too. Even got to meet a herpetologist there that wrote the book on Costa Rican snakes...gave me a tour of the museum he worked at and the reptile room....baby redtails had been born the night before and were sitting in the water bowl with mom and dad.... very, very cool....
