Jungle Corns Hatch!!!

A couple of my Jungle corn eggs hatched! The other 8 have yet to pip but should be soon. So far I have these two little guys! Actually the first one that hatched is female and the second is male. They are 50/50 corn snake / california king. I'm very happy with the outcome!

you will have to let me know how much you want for them when they are ready i just have to have one of those beauties. lol

So it looks like the king amel and corn amel are compatible. I've never seen an F1 jungle look so much like a king. That is smokin'!

I should say so looks like it ate double pinks, is that normal? Pretty baby though

Most likely, it is the absorbed yolk that is causing the big-bellied look. Many of my hatchlings this year are leaving their eggs looking just as pudgy. Turn them over and you can see the absorbed yolk filling almost 3/4 of the hatchling's length.

Thanks everyone.
That's what I thought when they hatched. I couldn't believe that those snakes came out of those eggs. It's not like their eggs were abnormally big.. No wonder why they hatched early lol. Susan is right, it's all the obsorbed yolk. The first one was pipped for about 48 hours before coming out and the second was pipped for about 24 hours. The rest of the eggs looks like they've expanded a lot, they look like they're about to bust! Lol. The humidity isn't even that high. I cut the other two eggs in that container a little just in case they are having troubles since it's been a few days since those two hatched but they seem to be fine.. Probably just waiting to use as much of the nutrients as possible before deciding to make it's way to the world. There's 6 more eggs in another container of the same clutch that haven't pipped yet eother but that container had a bit of a lower temp because it was in a different spot in the ink so I'm just giving those time.

Totally Awesome Jungles.

I am reminded of the fact that fairly recently I was involved in an argument on a Forum somewhere about the compatibility of the Amel CalKing and the Amel Corn Gene. I am so glad that I can now with confidence say that they are fully compatible and will produce F1 Amel Jungles.

Once again, Well Done.

Congratulations on your hatch! Also, nice to see another Oregonian, and you're in Portland for that matter! Our little group of NW herpers is growing!

Will you be attending the upcoming Wilsonville expo in August?

Yeah reptile keepers seem to grow more every year. Wow that's right huh? That expo is just right around the corner.. That's crazy! I can't believe it's almost here again. I'll most likely be there just to look around but not vending or anything.

Thanks, I know what forum you are talking about. I was wondering what was about to come out of those eggs for a long time I was expecting normal looking hatchlings but started suspecting other wise when I candled and not much dark was showing. Lot's of waiting for these eggs.

Update Pics of the Jungles

These are some update pics, the first pic is of the second one that hatched. The second pic is of the fourth hatchling that hatched. They're both in shed. Then the other six in the other container. I cut them after one of them pipped just in case. The one in the back left of the picture actually decided to cut his own little grand entrance until he discovered I already did it for him lol.
