Grandson and I found this in the back yard. Released in the pond.

But what is it? At least somewhat aquatic snake (eyes on top the head, can't tell if they are slitted or round pupil), vaguely triangular head (inconclusive, many non-venomous snakes do that under stress), pattern kind of looks like a copperhead's hourglasses), but the mouth looks like some kind of rat snake, the way it's curled up in the net doesn't indicate a venomous snake (doesn't preclude it either)...
