hi, i just got a rat snake the other day. i've heard that rat snakes and corn snakes are basicly the same thing. does that qualify as me having a corn snake?

That depends on what kind of rat snake it is...all corns are rats, but not all rats are corns, sort of like all squares are rectangles and rhombi, but not all rectangles and rhombi are squares. I don't know enough about rat snakes to know if the care information here will be entirely useful to you, but someone with more experience is sure to respond soon. :)

What kind is it? Do you have pictures?

Yup, it's a Texas rat.

Corns are a lot more docile than rats and Texas rats are known for being a bit....fiesty.

But the same husbandry applies.

the aquarium it's in isnt to great right now. i really wasnt expecting to get it... it just kinda... showed up in the bathroom.. isnt that fun?

I don't know how good it is, but www.ssnakess.com has a board devoted to rat snakes. And as was mentioned abouve, the husbandry is pretty similar, so you might get good feedback here, too. (I know several members also have various kinds of rat snakes, and they usually post about them in the miscellaneous board.)
