Just Saying Hello

Theobald Brooks

Newbie (site not hobby)
Have been looking for a place to post up a couple clutches of baby corns my daughter and I have for sale but didn't think it would be appropriate to do so without introducing myself first.

I'm Kris. My daughter is Sophia. We're from Kannapolis, NC.
If you're a Nascar fan you'll know that's Dale Earnhardt's hometown. We even have a statue. :awcrap:

We've been keeping corns for about 5 years now and had our first clutches this summer from our male and two females; Kratos, Ariel & Charlotte.

We've also got a 6' female redtailed boa named Cleopatra.

Anyway.... Hello everyone. :)

Welcome! Make sure you read the stickies in the For Sale section before posting any snakes for sale. Only contributing members can post for sale ads. You can join by clicking the bright green link at the top of any page. Thanks!

What morphs do you two keep?

It's nice that you are both involved in it :).

Be sure to post pictures of yours adults and keepers! We all love pictures!

Thanks, Nanci. I did see the link and had already read the rules before I joined up.

Hilly, I will post up some pictures. As far as morphs go, there are so many that I've never really ventured a guess at it and it appears on most sites that lots of people just call them whatever they feel like calling them anyway. LoL I suppose you'd call my male a "normal" and my females are stripe and snow.

Here are a few pics I took tonight. Didn't wanna bother Charlotte because her eyes are cloudy in shed mode but here are the other three... Kratos, Ariel and my new unnamed male.

Here's a picture of Charlotte in a bucket from a few weeks ago when I was taking pics of them and the babies.

Very pretty normal, snow, amel (?) and normal stripe!
Sorry still learning to recognize morphs visually.

No worries, I really don't have a clue either. The more I look at what people call them on their own sites the more confused I get. LOL

Welcome!
Hilary is right about the morphs.
There is a lot of variation in corn snake morphs, so it takes a while to get a hang of the visual identification. Visit Ian's Vivarium to see pics and descriptions of each morph. There is also a corn snake morph guide released every year with all the current established morphs.
Despite what you may have heard, there is a genetic definition for each morph- for example, an Amelanistic snake has homozygous genes for Amelanism. A Snow has homozygous genes for both Amelanstic and Anerytheristic. It doesn't matter what the snake looks like, if it has that gene set it is that morph. Then there are the breeding lines- which the breeders of those lines have named. For example, Kathy Love has her Love-Line Okeetees. They are genetically normals, but she has line bred them for superior looks. The same with candy canes which are line-bred amels.

Oh- I would also recommend the Corn Snake Calculator (google it) in order to find out what exacly breedings will produce.

Your daughter is adorable, BTW.

Well howdy neighbor! Love seeing people from my neck of the woods :) You have a cute lil girl. Glad to see she's into snakes! Enjoy the site.

We were there looking, but we only vended the Raleigh show this year. We are heading down to the Columbia show next weekend though :)

How much does it cost to get a table to vend at one of their shows just for future reference?

I'd like to head down to Columbia too but that's quite the drive to spend way more money than I should allow myself.
