ok my baby corn yogi has started to do an odd thing, but its cute. ive heard that snakes dont like there heads been touched, so why is it that when yogi is out for his daily handling he will rest his head on my thumb and allow me to stroke under his chin, he will sit quite happily whilst i do this and when i stop he will still sit there for a few minutes like he has nodded off. now what ive read and watched on youtube any snake shout immediately go into tag pose when there heads are touch. what u guys think? is he just been cute and hes just very tame and comfortable with me ( as im the only one in the house who can get this response from him) or is there a problem which could appear down the line?

Lots of my snakes let me touch their heads. It just depends on if you ever do it or not. The first few times it makes them nervous.

I disagree with the info that you found saying " touch their heads and they should immediately go into tag position".

I also have several that do not mind me touching their heads. Those of mine who do not like their heads touched will simple jerk it back away from my hand, none of them have ever gotten into a "tag position". I also have one snake in particular that almost seems to like to have it's head or chin rubbed and will frequently fall asleep on me.

So, as long as you do not see any signs/behaviors of illness I would not be worried and would simply chalk it up to the fact that every snake has it's own personality and yours seems to be more laid back, esp. with you, whom it must be quite comfortable with.

My Sylvara loves to have her chin rubbed. The baby, Sigyn is a jumpy snake and a bit of a hateling. But she is now getting to where she allows me to rub her chin too. I think they like it.

At Daytona they had a small gator as an educational exhibit near the USARK table. He was mouth taped for safety, and when he would get wiggly thee exhibitors took him outside or scratched under his chin. He visibly relaxed with the chin scratches. So I think some reptiles can like them.

I just noticed this same thing about my baby corn two days ago. I had my snake out for handling and discovered that Fluffy likes it when I rub under it's "chin". :) My snake is still pretty nervous around me when I first take it out of the tank and get's nervous during handling if I make any sudden moves or my cat makes any sudden moves, but I guess that is to be expected and is normal. Otherwise my snake is very chill and has been known to curl up on me and fall asleep. Be glad you got yourself such a sweet snake.

A lot of my snakes love to be rubbed on their head and chin but I have a few who hate it.

thanks guys i was just checking that this was normal. he is cute when he does it bless him, ive even found myself talking to him like he will answer me. i think we have finally bonded :)

i wish my corn would let this happy, hes an angry little chap. I love him be hes pretty easy to piss off.

hes gone very clingy last few days, wanting to sniff mt face and sniff my lips, good job i trust him right? lol. last night he sat round my neck for ages and i kept feeling his tongue flicking my ear lol.
