Sighs. Some of my fb friends have dumbass friends. They saw a copper head.. her friend chopped the poor snakes head off... but... then decided to pick it up. Hes in the hospital now..

Im sorry yes.. venomous snakes scare me but id never kill one... they couls have easily avoided this one and no one would have gotten hurt. Now one snakr is dead and a person in the icu. I feel a little sorry for him as he's a friend of a friend but a part of me is feeling karma too...

Heck, if someone ever kills me, I certainly hope I can get a chance to bite them......

WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't feel sorry for him at all. Snake karma, baby!!

I feel really bad for the snake. I wish a full recovery for the snake killing idiot on principle, but have trouble really feeling it, if you know what I mean. I hope that he comes to regret taking the life of a very beautiful and ecologically important animal.

I don't know where the video is, but lets just say I have seen a video of a decapitated snake still jumping and biting (fangs extended and chomping away) It was disturbing. I wouldn't share it even if I could.. but lets just say, even without a head, venomous snakes are still venomous. So.. yeah. That was really stupid. I hope they don't pay for that stupidty any more than they already have.

So I snooped some more and found out the reason he killed it is because he has 2 young daughters, two dogs and two foster puppies.. I still say get a pro and get it relocated.. *sighs*

His finger where the snake bit is turning necrotic, and he's in pain but the dr's says he will live.

I think it's sad all around, because now I can bet money he will dislike the snakes even further..

You're likely right. :/ Sigh, it really is a shame how often people don't learn from their mistakes. :headbang:

When I was little I was dumb and adventurous and we were at a river and we were going fishing and I saw a big thick piece of braided rope and I went to pick it up...... And I was just getting into snakes and I realized some thing..... It wasn't rope.... It was a 4.5 foot long water moccasin. I wasn't stupid enough to kill it I just tapped it with a shovel and it slithered into the water I was 1 inch away from dying.... I was no where near a hospital and I was young and I didn't have a hardy immune system like a adult would have I would I have died or suffered a serious injury and probably would have lost a limb......and I still love them to this day haha and your friend...... Is a complete retard. Tell him to have fun and don't mess with snakes, because they are great creatures... Until you anger them and copperheads don't usually have that aggressive attitudes . That was like the equivalent of me going and cutting off a stingrays spine and then sticking into my hand and going to the icu. Tell him if he sees a snake walk away.

My husband came home from work one night last week and stopped at the maillbox kiosk (they don't come to our houses to deliver mail, each area in the subdivision has a group of mailboxes within a block of their home) and just as he stepped out of the car his headlights lit up on a huge diamondback rattler. Right then a neighbor came around the corner WITH HIS LITTLE KID and a shovel, he had just seen it a few minutes before and came back to kill it.

My husband called me to tell me about it and I told him not to let the guy kill it, I called 911. Jim came home and told me that the guy did kill it, but the reason was that it had puncture wounds all over it, it was bleeding heavily on the sidewalk. It must have been picked up by a hawk or other bird of prey and got dropped. It would strike (albeit weakly) at anyone who came near it. Jim said it was bleeding really bad, he knew it wouldn't make it anyway, but I told him I had called 911.

I don't know the condition the snake was in, but hopefully the guy did right by it and put it out of its misery. The FD came and collected the body, when I was on with 911 the dispatcher told me that they would catch and release all snakes way back in the desert, I asked because I didn't want the FD to kill it either if that is how they handle it, but I hope things worked out for the best.

A good reminder for those who get complacent when walking in the desert areas.

The sidewalk is still bloodstained.

*******WARNING!!! GRAPHIC!!!********

Here is a link to a decapitated snake still striking. They can strike for up to an hour after their decapitation and the venom sacs are still functioning.

STRIKING SNAKE HEAD

awwww poor snake... :( but putting out of misery I am ok with.. however, I didnt click the video.. Im a little sensitive.

Sucks when animals suffer..

Unforunatly I had something show up on my news feed that I think is just as bad. One of my friends was surprised by a Gopher (I believe, I'm not as good at quickly identifying as some) and bit.

His first reaction was to behead it "just in case". Makes me so mad!! I never really know how to react though.. I don't want to just blow up on people, but if someone doesn't speak out I guess their prejudices will never change. I also get really upset when people kill spiders. :realhot:

That's ok, did you hear about FloridaMan? He lit his car... and an entire gas station on fire trying to kill a spider that was on his gas tank door.
