Large adult cornsnakes

Passport

New member
Two years ago I was in my lfs and a customer came in with one of the largest cornsnakes I had ever seen. She had brought it in to be probed but most who "eyeballed" it agreed it was a female. This snake was every bit of 5ft and the girth was tremendous. It was also the tamest and calmest snake I've ever seen. She could wrap it around her waist and it would stay there while she walked around. My question is this. How large can the cornsnake get? I have a picky 5yr old male who is not large at all. A wonderful snake but will never attain the size of that big one. Which, if any, locality corns will possible grow into the beautiful giant that I desire? Is the Okeetee one of the larger specimens? Does a corn grow it's entire life? Can one expect a 10yr old corn to be really large? Does anyone have pics of a really large cornsnake?

They tend to live to 10-15years and get up to 6ft. The dont grow all there live, they tend to stop growing when they reach about 4 years old, but they can always grow fat. Normals and Okeetees tend to grow bigger than other corns.

This is a really Sh*t picture of one of my adult corns who is about 5ft. I am going to try and get some better pics soon.

Thanks, Alex, for your reply. Your snake certainly is long and beautiful. You know, I may be remembering this snake larger in girth than she was, but I don't think so. I held her and was so taken with her that I offered to purchase her on the spot from the girl who owned her. Of course, she just laughed and told me I didn't have enough money because her snake was "priceless". She wouldn't ever consider selling her. (Doesn't hurt to ask though, huh?) I have a couple of Okeetees and they are at present my largest cornsnakes. They are only two years old and the female was not quite at 300g this spring so I decided to hold off on breeding her. I don't want to stunt her growth in any way. Please post another pic of your snake perhaps in curled in your hand for camparison. Thanks.

Im sure that snake which was owned by that girl was a very nice snake.

The snake in my pic of accualy my 2nd biggest. I dont have a pic of him curled up in my hands, but I will get one of him tomorrow.

This is my biggest snake. She/he is a Creamsicle i think. He/She is just over 5ft and weights 940g!!!

That's it! I believe that could be the same one I saw in my lfs. Were you ever in Louisiana? Just kidding. But even the color is what I remember. So maybe the one I saw was an older (and wiser) corn. Is Hercules an Okeetee? I think the one I saw was just a lovely normal. Marcel, that is what I call a gorgeous animal. Did it take 12 years for it to attain that size? Has it always been a good feeder? Has it ever gone off food? Do other cornsnakes have the ability to reach such a goal? Thanks for posting. I love him.

He was huge at 4 - 5 years of age. And he is normal ;)

Not me either. I still remember the pic of your little boy and the big snake. Great picture. Thanks for showing me Hercules.

Large Corns

The Picture of my Amel shown here is 5'2" and growing, he's my favorite one, his growth is probably due to his diet, he's now feeding solely on small rats, hamsters or gerbils, & he prefers live prey, the thrill of the kill i guess, just doing my part in rodent control, Marshall P..

Not me, VERY gorgeous animal. Yours are too, Marshall. Mine are just tiny babies, I look forward to when they are big, yet I have no desire to get an adult, I like to watch them grow.

I love looking at everyone's pictures too! and I never get tired of seeing them.

Gorgeous snakes! I love watching them grow too. Mine are tiny only 22 and 24 inches but the girl (24 inches) looks so much bigger then the male at 22 inches. She's much bigger in the girth. Is that normal for snakes? The females are bigger?
