Large male not eating - all good

Thought I would share with you all, my recent experience with my male.

I have a male amel, who measures 6.2 ft. and weighs 1.7 kilos. After my male not eating since January 28th, and now going into his second "blue" in less than a month, I decided to take him to the vet.

The vet examine him, and he was all good but had "gurggle guts"...bloated with gas and liquids. The Vet gave him a dewormer, and nutrient substance which will empty him out in the next 48 hours.

The vet said it was normal at this time of year for males to go off feed, and that he is going into Blue for a second time in a month, as his hormones are acting up, he is in a new environment, has gone through a mite problem, which has been restifide.

The vet suggested I wait another two weeks before trying to feed him again, and not to worry unless another month goes by without feed. He is still in good shape despite not having eatin'.

Anyone in the Ottawa area looking for a snake vet I highly recomment Dr Auger, located in Orleans, he has many snakes himself, and knows his stuff.

Cheers

Well Jake finally had his first meal last week!! Yeahh, after over two months with no food, he eat 2 small rats, and two pickies in one feeding!! Now he has been in his hide for a week, and he is again in Blue...he has been shedding once a month since February. Is this normal? The humidity in the viv is about 35%....

Thought I would share with you all....
