lava corn question...

NortheastSnakes.com
Okay, I was thinking of this as its been on my mind for quite some time and wanted to finally inquire about it.... My friend bought an unusual looking 02 hypo corn at a Md reptile show from an unknown breeder. I thought I knew who the breeder was but now he & I are not too sure, especially since we split up at the show and I don't remember anything past last week..let alone who my friend bought from almost 2 years ago...lol

Anyway, I have compared this snake to many, many corns, either online pics or at shows. The only corn that it even comes close to resembling is the lava corn. It is without a doubt the closest darn thing I've seen to a lava corn given all the pics posted about them...visual similarities are simply way too close to dismiss it or call it something else. Without re-reading through dozens of old posts on lavas, can anyone familiar with lava's verify if its even possible to have had one sold in that area around that time? It was my friend's very first snake and it is his pet so he does not look to profit from it or breed it HOWEVER, I can't help but wonder if it was a lava mistakenly sold to him as a regular hypo.
How long has this new form of hypo called lava been around? or for that matter normals het for lava?

any thoughts?

Lava Corns

Hi Jason,

I have been selling Lava Corns and Normals het for Lava Corns since 1996. (Formally called Transparent Hypos) I have also sold quite a few possible hets and hets to wholesalers every year since. There has been enough time pass, that several generations of them could have been produced by now. People ship all across the country, so anything can be just about anywhere these days. Other hypos can look similar to the Lavas. Ultras, Christmas Hypos and others. Most Ultras have some white on them which the Lavas do not.
