lay box

That looks like it. Just make sure you don't get Flukers "All Natural" (except for the green dye that comes pouring out and turns your snake green!!)

I would go to garden dept. or garden store, it is less then $5.00 for enough for lay box and incubator for one or two snakes.

I got this and it looks like dirt with some ground up roots? Is that how yours looks? thanks

Hope this helps if it more like dirt than this you may have gotten peet moss. Peet moss is very hard to keep moist or it get too moist. susan

yep it says peet moss thats all they have around here the only thing that looks like what you have i have found is the green flukers stuff at the pet store. I guess i'm back searching she just had her pre lay shed today so i got a couple days. thanks

If all you can find is the flukers stuff go for it. It is very odd no garden stores carry sphagnum moss it is a staple for many gardeners. What is in the container I pictured is about 1/3 of the bag and it was under $5.00. Did you ask at the store? It may be some place like WalMart doesn't have it. good luck, susan

I asked the guy at the store and he sold me the peet moss. Someone on here said the green flukers stuff was bad for the snake.

Since I can get sphagnum, I've never dealt with sphagnum just for reptiles. I thought she meant don't get the one with green dye. The one you pictured says no dye, sphagnum by nature has some green. My picture is pretty dried out but when you get it at a nursery or garden store it will also have green parts.

I don't know where you live in Michigan, but I did a google search on sphagnum in Michigan and came up with several nurseries, green houses, and garden centers that stock it. You might try the yellow pages for sources I listed. hope this helps, susan

I'm in Michigan too and I usually get my at Lowes. You need to look in the department that carries house plants. It's used as a decorative mulch when you plant house plants or hanging planters. It usually comes in a rectangular plastic bag that is only about 12' tall and 5 or 6" wide and deep. It comes dry and packed solid in the bag. You have to soak it and then squeeze out all of the water you can so it is just moist when you use it.

If you don't have a Lowes near you, try any store that carries yard and house plants. You usually find it sitting on a shelf somewhere because the bag isn't that large.

ya lowes is who sold me the peast moss i found it at farmer johns. Thanks to everyone for there help.

P.S. How long is normal between sheds on a adult corn? She shed about 5-6 weeks ago and again today which i am hopeing is a prelay shed
