Let my snake crawl in grass?

I don't know if I'm suposed to let my corn crawl in grass. Will my snake burrow in the grass or just get the urge to run away? :sidestep: He is 4' 3'' and very strong and fast. I don't want to take the chance. Please send me news of your experience.

well if you dont want to take the chance, then...don't... depends how fast you are compared to the snake. it will probaby slither away and go look for a place to hide.

I've never wanted to take the chance either. It has crossed my mind, but then I think of all the holes (many scented with prey), predators, and parasites that my feeble human senses can't detect.

I asked the same question like 2 weeks ago for taking pictures, more from the standpoint on avoiding parasites though. I didn't get any replies relevant to my question, so I don't think there's a whole lot of info on it around here. From the standpoint of your question though, it all depends on how much you trust yourself to not let that happen to your snake.

and on another note, unless you have some kind of physical disability, I can't imagine that your snake can outrun you. Just don't give him the opportunity to make a quick getaway (i.e. Don't set him down right next to a groundhog hole, etc)

Mine have a tendency to burrow when placed in the grass, and then it's a pain in the butt to get them out of there. I don't care how short the lawn is, they can really get down into there!

I dont let mine in the grass due to holes. But I do let mine crawl on our front porch while I swing.. :) I just make sure he doesn't go down this one rotten wood hole in the wall of the porch.

I let my snakes crawl in the grass two or three days after the eat and they do their business in the back yard I never leave them alone though. sometimes i let out two at a time they never really try to escape but the seem to love the sun. once i had my anery stirpe outside and answered the phone came back a few seconds later and he was in the bushes. so never underestmate them. the cats in my neighborhood must think i have a weird smelling dog.....

can't you make little outdoor enclosures for them? for example, a regular tank with no floor? (I read something similar for tortoises..)
