Lethargic Baby Corn

My baby snow corn is super sweet and friendly, but she's also pretty lethargic. It's one of my favorite characteristics of her because it makes her good for handling and she never runs off when I have her out, but I'm worried it might be something wrong with her.

Is this just a personality quirk or should I be worried?

Is the snake eating well and does the condition look OK/ not skinny?
It could just have a great temperament. But if a baby is not eating and gets skinny and lethargic that's usually a very bad sign.

If she's otherwise healthy, temperature might be a factor. Cooler temps = less activity for ectotherms.

^Yep. First question I had when I read the title is what are your temps?

Well, maybe you just have a calm baby. One of mine is pretty laid back. If that's the case, enjoy!

Keep your eye open for other potential problems, but it sounds like she's just super calm.

I held back a couple of Amel Stripes from this years clutches, so that a friend's daughter could choose one when they hit three months old. They couldn't have had more different characters. One was really laid back, like yours, and when picked up, she'd just sit in my hand flicking her tongue and looking vaguely interested, but not going anywhere. The other one instantly wanted to be sniffling around, trying to get up your sleeve, wriggle between your fingers etc.

They can be very individual, even as youngsters.

P.S. Friend's daughter chose the lively one. I would've had the calm one myself!

Awesome. Thank you all so much. I was really worried about her, so thank you all for responding so favorably to this post. :) I always loved corn snakes for their varied personalities, but I never realized how different they could really be.

My baby girl is like that too...She was more active at first, but she chilled out really quickly. Perfectly healthy and is warm when she's been over her UTH.

Does your snake kind of lay there or does she slither at all?

Well, mine stays in the same spot when she's in her viv...I think that's to be expected...mine usually goes to one of her hides and chills out/sleeps for a long long time. She might come out of her hides at night, in the cover of darkness...your snake might be doing the same.

Mine also does that. I dont want to handle her yet because I've only had her for 5 days. But she just stays in her hides all day but when I wake up shes out of her hide. So obviously shes active at night.:wavey:

My friend has a corn the same age as mine and she's ALWAYS moving. Whether she's in her viv or out, she's constantly moving. I do love that mine's so chill all the time. :D
