im paranoid hes gonna escape i have a snap on but its pretty tightdunno if he could ever slip through it and get out cuz then i would have to get rid of it if ma parents found him in the house....i thought he was gone til i opened it and he fell off the edge =\ im not gonna bother him anymore dont wanna stress him out....

Thats one really long run on sentence you got there :)

I noticed my snake likes to climb right at the top of the tank near the grate as well. If the lid is tight and there arn't any cracks or openings along the side i'm sure it will be ok.
 
Every single one of my snakes liked to climb up on that ledge. I never thought too much of it until one on them escaped. I have since started grinding off the ledge with a dremmel tool. Not one escape since.
 
Don't worry

I have a lid that doesn't even clip in. I always put a heavy book on top. Never had an escape from that thing yet.

But I can say if you keep snakes eventually one will escape. It's inevitable. If you only have one the chances are slim though.
