Lighting

I have a normal flouresent tube in my vivarium which is 1.5 foot (viv is 4foot). It is attached to the top at the back and has a fully heatproof plastic cover on it. I just wondered if this normal light is ok. I did research before i got it and was advised that it was ok but it seems other people have red and blue lights etc. I have it on a timer and it comes on between 2.30pm and 11.30pm. It is just for effect and only gives off a tiny amount of heat (viv alters about 1F). If its ok then i dont plan on changing it but any advice would be great as i dont really want to leave it there if its unsafe for my snakes.

Vicki, it gives off good visuals and looks safe from the photo's i've seen. As long as the snakes can't burn them self's i can't see any reason to switch lights/take it out.

Is you site still up i couldn't access it earlier?

Cheers John. It is safe, Craig bought it and believe me I checked it about 10times before i let him put it in! It doesnt even feel warm when you touch the plastic cover and Humbug loves to lie out underneath it when its on!
