should a snake's lighting be turned off at night, and the heat lamp stay on? or should they both stay on throughout the night?

a slight temperature drop at night would be good for it, but not necessary. Also, I think it being darker at night would be nice for it and less stressful. If cutting the lighting off will cause a big temperature drop then, no.

I think yes. But some folks do you a red or black light just to check out there at night. The evenings are their active time.
I don't think a heat lamp is needed because the snakes need more belly heat to help in digestion than a “basting” lamp heating up the air above them.
With this heat wave I'm in now no heat is require.

Good Luck

I always turn my lights off at night because i feel it does reduce stress on the animal. My corn is really calm and likes to be handled and one night i left the lights on and the next day he was jumpy and and skiddish. it could just be my snake but i'm not sure. Good luck!
