Need more Corns
I have just got a wooden viv for my corn and she will be moving into it in a few weeks time. The only problem at the minute is where the viv will be doesn't get much light and is therefore dark meaning we can't/won't be able to see her. I was thinking about getting a light and fitting it along the back of the viv. The light itself is a 2% UVB Natural Sunlight made by arcadia, I was just wondering if these are okay to use with corns.

Link shows the light - http://www.888reptiles.co.uk/productdetails.php?ProductID=3852&ProductGroupID=1774

Cheers Spud

The snake does not need UV light. If you went to a hardware store you could buy a slim line fluorescent light much cheaper. Are you aware that the link you provided is just for the bulb itself and you still need to buy the fixture to put it in?

Something else to consider is a tiny LED fixture. I've gotten a couple for lizards and snakes and they provide light with zero heat. I use industrial velcro to attach it to wherever I want it.

I have two custom cages that came with fluorescent lights, similar to what would go under a kitchen cabinet, a small fixture, and they heat the cages up too much to use other than just on for a minute, not for nice evening lighting like I had envisioned.

Yes i just wanted to see if this was the correct bulb to use. So i need to use a fluorescent light for the snake and not a UV one?

nanci, where would one find those led fixtures? i have a feeling im going to need them in my new VIV's

I've seen them at Lowes and Home Depot. I have pics in threads here, but they are too hard to find. Hopefully I'll remember to post some new ones here when I get home. if I forget, and you really care, remind me!

This light is mounted with Velcro underneath the table that holds Orchidee's viv. There just isn't good lighting in my living room, so I need it to find her to get her out. I got it on clearance for $12!!

So to give you an idea of the size of the light, that's a 10 gallon, and the light is just slightly larger than a deck of cards. The light is nice and soft.
