Little guy passed :(

Well I didnt know where to post this but, my little guy has passed away. I believe due to an URI, i had an apt. with a reptile vet monday to get him looked at but it was too late. I was pretty upset because i didnt neglect him made sure it ate and the temps were always right had fresh water.

I just went out and bought another one, i made sure this time it's breathing was not rough, made sure it was energetic and explorative. I can tell a big difference in behavior right away. The new guy is all over the viv exploring, climbing in his vines/top of viv lol.

Just hope that if anyone is thinking of purchasing from a pet store ask about them, make sure they seem healthy. If only i done my home work sooner

Almost got a california king until the lady told me it was pretty mean. It sure was a pretty snake though.

The pet store said they are "albino" corns. Its maybe a few months old or so.

I'm sorry to hear your first one died.

Did you clean the viv out really well before you put the new guy in because if the first one was sick you don't want this one to get it too.

I second this!!! I hope you cleaned out the tank and all the decor and water bowls before you put the new snake in..And you have a very cute little amel there :0)

Sorry to hear about your snake. Is it just me or does your new little snake have a scab on his head? Maybe from some retained shed? If it is I suggest putting a wet hide in his tank to help soften it enough to come off with the next shed. (Personal experience talking, you would think a 16yro is capable of caring for their own pet)

Thanks everyone, i thought the scab up on the head was from some retained shed, but i noticed mites crawling on him, then i went back up to the pet store inspected the other corns and they all had mites as well. I notified the staff i doubt they did anything. But i got this mite spray that im going to try on him. I hope it gets rid of it. I did a search for mites on this site and was unsuccessful in finding a remedy or a brand name to purchase. I got Jurrasic or somthing. lol. i hope this works.

I did notice him sittin in his water dish this morning.

The scales under his eyes also seem swollen/displaced in the same way that Jared's did when he had a sinus infection....You might consider taking him to a vet.

Provent-a-Mite is AMAZING! I picked it up from a local pet store and it solved my mite problems with my boa a year ago, haven't seen one since! GL! :cheers:

^^Thanks, if this stuff dont work ill give it a shot. Im looking up vets as i type this, i just want to get him a check up just to be safe.. Also he started to shed, i noticed he was rubbing his head on his mock rock lol and its starting to come off.
