After a dramatic win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5, the Cowboys got blown out by the Detroit Lions (47-9), had a bye in Week 7 and a 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers where Dallas trailed 27-10 after three quarters and tried to close late on a pair of CeeDee Lamb touchdown grabs in the fourth. A lack of running game continues to haunt the Cowboys, who rank last in the NFL in that category at just 74.1 yards per game.

The Falcons have navigated a run of quality opponents to a 5-3 record with highlight wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (twice) and the Philadelphia Eagles. Last week, Kirk Cousins and company played and beat the Bucs for the second time in a span of four weeks, 31-26, behind a 23-of-29 passing performance from Cousins for 276 yards and four touchdowns.
