Locales

Does anyone here have genuine locale cornsnakes (not selectively bred to look like locales but the real deal)? I've been looking for some for a while, my sister has a wonderful pair of Upper Keys but I wondered what other genuine locales there are. I would be particularly interested to hear from owners of Walter's Alabama corns and to see photos of them.

Thanks

Kathy

They are lovely, thank you! They look very similar to my sister's Upper Keys corns, which aren't quite as "faded" but similar colouration (her's have a little bit more growing to do yet which might be why - they get brighter with every shed).

I have a wild caught Alabama, and a Pinellas county florida wild caught.

Thanks very much! Do all the Alabamas get that lovely metallic sheen? I've got the opportunity to buy some of Walter's on an import run and I wanted to find out as much as I could before going ahead. Very tempting indeed, I would just like to know what to expect in adult colouration. What I have noticed about all the Alabama photos that I've seen (of adults) is that gunmetal colouration.

damn, buzzard, i just fall in love in your alabama corn! if you ewer decite to give her away, just send it to me in Slovenia.... (dreeeeams, dreams, dreams, dreams....):headbang:

I have some true locale, Alabama corns. They are from Walter, & the female was WC, & I have a pair of siblings from that WC female, that were sired by an unkown wild Alabama male.

From what I am told, it is the corns in north Alabama that have the metallic grey color.

Not all of them, but from what I understand, it's the ones from a particular area.
If you have an opportunity to get some from Walter, I would in a heartbeat! I have several snakes from Walter, including 3 wild line Alabama's (& two that are result of a cross with Hypo Okeetee).

Here's three wild line Alabama's (the first two are Mica, the WC female, the next two are Katzen & Silber, her offspring from the year she was caught)

Thanks.

Found her gravid. Working on a couple of projects with them. Walter has some nice ones. Heather has a couple too. Still looking for a wild male with the grey. No luck yet. Next year the I will have her son ready. I may just have to wait.

You & me both! ;)

Thanks - they're all so beautiful. If I get babies from Walter, are they from the northern adults? Sorry, probably a question for him but seeing as you said you'd bought from him I thought I'd ask!

No problem. I would recommend buying from Walter. Alabama or otherwise, I am very happy with each & every snake I have received from him!

Thanks - I just can't get over the Alabama "look", with that metallic sheen coupled with the melanin wash, it's just brilliant. Love them. Sold!

It sounds like Walter won't have any Alabama babies available right away, his are too young. I actually have the adult Alabama's that he had.
I will be working on continuing the Alabama line, as I know a couple others are as well.

I saw Walter's babies for this year listed on Patrick's corn run import list, seems the info I read was wrong as Walter's just told me the same as you, I am a bit gutted. Never mind, there's always another year or perhaps I'll just keep trying to find genuine locales over here. Thanks for the help x

Does anyone knowa breeder in EU that has Alabama locality corns?
Or can anyone send them to EU (Slovenia)?

Dejvid there are several EU breeders working with corns who also import or attend US shows to bring new blood or lines over to EU...Also there are some other US breeders who don't participate on this forum who work specifically with various locales, including Alabama localities...I'll pm you some names, maybe they can help you out :)
