looking for a good herp vet near WPB FL

Unfortunately I am going to need a herp vet in/near West Palm Beach Florida.

His belly is very mushy, he has no strength at all, just hangs from my hand when I pick him up. He also poo'd on me twice, what seemed like normal poos with some clear fluid around them.
He's an Oct. '03 hatch. So he is small and I am worried.

He's my most active (usually)... After maybe four days of not handling, because he's been having trouble digesting and I wanted to not stress him... I just found him, very ill.

His belly is extremely mushy and if you squeeze him gently down by the vent, you get a bit of clear liquid discharge, and a little poo.

I'd be happy to drive to Ft. Meyers if it could help him.
It is abundantly clear that he needs medical help.

I don't know of amy herp vets there, but there is a local herp society. Maybe you can contact them and find a good vet that way.

I am sorry to say that in my experience, snakes usually don't recover from the mushy stomach / no strength or muscle tone symptoms. I have been giving probiotics (Nutri-Bac) to snakes with digestive problems and have had some good success, but yours may be too far gone for it to help.

If you do find a vet that can save your snake, or if you are able to bring it around on your own, I would very much like to know exactly what happened and how the snake was treated.

Wish I had more optimistic info for you, but I do wish you good luck!

kathylove,
Thank you for the input. I wish I had good news.

I must report the worst outcome. This morning I found him lost.
I noted a very foul smelling yellow discolored patch about 1/2 way down on the ventral surface.

He was a dandy fellow. I will misss him.

BTW: I have a surviving sibling, and am interested in the probiotic concept. If it can provide a benefit... Why not use it?

Also: Ben Siegel Reptiles recommended Dr. Kelleher of Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital. They were gracious about me canceling my appointment today.
:(
