Well, I experienced my first escape this week, and thankfully my first recovery as well.

I picked up a new (used) 32qt rack over the Thanksgiving break for my 08's to move into. Up until now they had been in a hatchling rack that I made for them. They hadn't strictly outgrown it, but quarters were definitely getting tight for the larger ones. While setting up the new rack I noticed that a few of the bins had gaps that were a little on the large side and made an effort to put the larger snakes into those bins. Apparently I misjudged one and when I woke up yesterday I discovered that Lancelot (one of my Abbott's) had escaped.

The boyfriend was pissed at me and certain we would never see him again but for some reason I just felt like I'd be seeing Lance again soon. I intended to set a trap for him last night but was too exhausted from this cold I have to be able to. At 2am I woke up with a sinus headache and while I was up getting a drink I glanced over at the rack and discovered Lance climbing his way up the leg of a table!

He's now in a bin I'm sure he can't get out of and I'll be putting a larger snake into the one he escaped from. The first thing he did was patrol the entire edge of the new bin, looking to get out. He also gave me a tail rattle just for good measure.
