lost snake in arm chair

Hi haven't been on for a good while.

Snake has snuck into a arm chair.

We've touched him, caught his tail, but he then went deeper into chair.

covered chair with a sealed double duvet.

had a mouse to tempt him out.

been 4 days now and no sign.

How long do I wait.

will I have to go to upholster to sort this out?

Any advice would help

Thanks

Kevin

I think it's impossible to yank him out, if he doesn't want to come out. Is there a way to cut the chair open from the bottom, where you can fix it yourself?

You could always set up a trap.. You could use a long hose or pipe, something that the snake has to crawl through. Put the other end into a corner and shade it with something, so it's nice and dark. Connect the hose/tube into a hole in the chair, then take a mouse and use a blower to send some smell into the chair..

If that doesn't get him out, don't know what will :D

Have you been monitoring the chair constantly for 4 days? If not, there is a good chance he has already worked his way out of the chair and is somewhere else in your house. I've read when some others have lost their snakes in chairs or couches, they have had to cut off the back (if its just a fabric back) or have slowly taken the couch apart. I would start with that, and if you find he is not in the chair anymore, then start looking aruond the house.

he's definitely in chair and its been sealed all the time. I thought of bottle traps in openings. I think I'm looking for a steer as to when to consider / start taking chair apart?

Thanks for comments, any help is useful.

I don't think there are any guidelines which cover that one. They can go for months without food. Water will probably be more of an issue but I've no idea how long they can go without that.

If you're convinced that he's still in there, in your shoes, I'd get that chair torn to pieces right now. The longer you leave it, the more likely it is that he'll find a way out.

After we nearly got him out, he went deeper, then we covered chair with a double duvet and sealed it with tape, checking every night. I just cant see him comming out. It's gonna be expensive if I have to tear the chair apart !! Chair is family heir loom and will have to be recovered.

Heelllpppp

Is it possible to provide only one point of exit? And then maybe put a pinky (or whatever it is eating) just outside the exit point. Then surround area with doubled over painters tape and hope he doesn't take food and slither back into chair?

Or put bottle trap down instead of leave food out in open. Maybe put water out too - they have to be smart enough to go searching for water when thirsty.

Or, can you somehow make the area in the chair colder? Maybe a fan or something - not sure if that would make him search for warmer pastures.

Kevin,
Maybe a real big clear plastic bag would be better to enclose the chair. Then you could have a couple of small hides in the bag as well, and you could check those daily.
Good Luck!

Happy ending

came out this morning. Back in his viv, will be fed tonight.

Thanks Guys
