This is Madame Vastra, my new vanishing stripe anery from Gary at Crazy Colubrids. I got her last week, and decided to start a progression thread for her. :)

This is the pic Gary sent me when he set her aside from me

Settling into her new home last Tuesday. This girl is so bold, she does hide for part of the day, but she spends a TON of time hanging out in the open! Kaa was never this bold as a little one, lol.

Our first handling session yesterday, followed by her first feeding, which she downed like a champ! :) She's 10 grams right now.

Very pretty. I wish my corns were more bold like yours!

Lol, well Kaa certainly wasn't this bold until he was at least 6 months old, and none of my friends hatchlings are bold like this! I've only had her a week, so it will be interesting to see if she continues like this, or if she starts hiding more with time. I think it helps that I have 5 hides in there plus vines, so she always has a hide within easy reach. I also have her in my kitchen, which is a much higher traffic area than my bedroom, where Kaa is, so she also sees a lot more of me on a daily basis. :)

We keep our snow in our kitchen as well. But she is very reclusive. Our other corn we keep in the living room and is about 5 months old. He has been hanging out on his vine more and more or just poking his head out of his hide watching everything.

Being reclusive is very normal for young corn snakes, since everything wants to eat them. Vastra just doesn't have seemed to have gotten the memo, lol.

My boys two months old and he only hides after he's eaten. Every other time he lies at the front of the tank or darting around.

He is mental!

New pic of Vastra, you can't see it in the photo, but she's actually starting to get a faint wash of yellow along her neck already, can't wait to see how bright it gets after the next shed! Her stripes are also starting to noticeably fade a little with each shed, the picture actually makes them look much darker than they actually are. Can't wait to see how this girl matures! :)

Thank you! I really love her, she's such a sweet thing, really calm about being handled already! Can't wait for her next shed to see how much lighter her stripes will get and how much more yellow she has! :) I need to get some new pics of my other baby, Sif, but she never stops moving, it's almost impossible to get a picture of her, lol.

Got some new pics of Vastra the other night. You can actually start to see the yellow coming out on her neck and how light her stripes are getting in these. So can't wait to see how she changes with each new shed, she just gets prettier and prettier! :)
