Making tank more attractive

Mangrove

Corns_will_rule_the_world
How do I make my tank more snakes friendly? It has aspen shavings so that kind of dulls the colors. I also added some vines but I need something to really give more color. I even added one of those fish tank backings that even made it a little more attractive. But I want something to really draw attention to it. Does anyone have any ideas for this? I have been stuck in this situation for several weeks now and I just cant put my finger on it but it needs something. :shrugs:

Do you have a photograph of your current setup? I have branches in my Viv's which get used on a regular basis, my older snake Mayzee is an excellent climber,

Thanks Mangrove, for moving this thread. Just trying to keep Rich sedate....lol
Now, if you can post a pic, maybe the creative juices will start to flow

Well that is my tank. I was also wondering if there was some type of potted plant that would not be harmful to the environment or to hazardous to the snake? I though that would dramatically brighten up his tank but I’m not sure if there are any plants that I can put in my tank. :shrugs:

Can't help you with the live plant, seems like you want a color plant any way . Your viv looks great. I did the fish tank back drop today too. (how did you stick it on??). But you could try to go to a art and craft store for color vine, leaves and hot glue them to your hide ,stick etc that might do it?
Try to follow your backdrop, just an thought!
good luck

I found it was Either best to use Velcro or double sided tape’ It sticks it on very well. If you just use scotch tape it does not keep its stickiness for a long period of time. But color plants for the arts and crafts store is a great idea. Thanks a lot. Any more opinions are more than welcome, I need lots of ideas, I just want my tank to look really nice and have vibrant colors. :twoguns:

Well, I like using potted plants in my enclosures. Granted, I don't have nearly as many snakes as some people so the extra maintenance isn't a big deal.

I just put my plants in ceramic pots and sort of load hides and things around them. Generally I use christmas cactuses, and orchids. Some of the orchids are really nice because they have the same humidity and temp requirements as the snakes, and some of them are epiphytic (grow up in tree branches and on rock cliffs). The epiphytic orchids I can just tie to a log and then mist them once a week. "air plants" would also probably work very well. They are supposed to be really easy, but I always end up killing them somehow.

The snakes seem to enjoy basking on the live plants, and prefer the live ones to the plastic ones. They also seem to help keep the humidity stable and also make the vivs smell better (At least in my opinion)

Do be careful if you get live plants though, some nurseries spray their plants with pesticides and use chemical fertilizers which can harm your snake.
