Male or Female?

I am looking for a strictly pet snake, no breeding plans. Im pretty sure these are some very "noob" questions but....

Is there any difference between a male and female corn, as far as temperament, health, lifespan, size goes?

What else should I be looking for from a potential snake and breeder?

Thanks.

Males will sometimes go on a hunger strike during the spring breeding season. It's really not a big deal, just a bit frustrating for some people. There really isn’t much difference between males and females.
As far a breeders go there are a lot of good ones. If there is a morph you've decided on we can probably point you in the right direction.

Thanks. I figured as much.

Im looking for just a pet for my daughter, no plans on breeding, maybe a female. Not looking to spend big $$$ on anything super rare or anything. As for morphs, anything in the pink, purple, red colors. Here is a short list from what I have seen, but I may be missing something similar...

Lavender Motleys
Opal
Hypo Plasma
Candy Cane
Strawberry
Rev Okeetee
Ultramel

With those morphs you have a lot of breeders to choose from. I'd suggest looking for a breeder on this sight that is somewhat near you. I think Old School is in NJ.

eli, your right again!
oh and by the way, you will be paying over $80 for lav motleys, opals, hypo plasmas, and ultramels. I have no idea what a strawberry is. Oh and i recommend a snow for a pink snake. My first corn was a snow :) (they also have a really good price)

You also asked about size, usually females are a little bit bigger. As far as the morphs I'm a big fan of candy canes and reverse okeetees. And I agree with Cornsnake124 snows are great. Our first was a snow and he's great, he has hints of pink and green on him now!

The more I look at all the morphs the more extremely confused I get as to which one I want!

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

:)

Male or female... they're both pretty much the same... females are generally bigger (sometimes this doesn't apply, my friend has a male who measures in at about 5'7'').
All I have to say is PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE purchase either directly from a breeder or from a store that specialises in reptiles. My boyfriend made the mistake of purchasing a normal corn from PetSmart (first snake without consulting me!!!) and it came home with mites and a very not so nice temperment.
Try to go for a snake that's a bit bigger (not a small little hatchling) just for ease of handling. I find they start to slow down a bit at about 4-6 months. But yet again that's just speaking from personal experience not fact.
