Market Prices (revisited)

It's no secret that the only Corns I like are Okeetees (but the Anery's that look like young Black Rat Snakes are pretty cool as well). So I am out of touch with morphs and such.

But I do try to keep up with prices - it's just something else I enjoy doing even though I don't keep those snakes. I don't even keep Ball Pythons, but I watch those prices as well.

To my reason for posting now... I am seeing some Tesseras lately priced in the high hundreds, and recently saw a few (cinders, I believe?) at $1200. I was under the impression as of last year that they had come down to around $120 or so.

Has the market price skyrocketed overnight?

Someone's paying $1200 for cinder? Do you have their email or anything? ;) I have had a male 2 year old cinder sitting at $100 for months and still no takers, this snake is probably big enough to breed.
AFAIK the market is pretty bad right now except for just a couple of morphs- palmetto, scaleless come to mind.

Normal Tessera's, even ones with hets, are down to under $200 but so far still slightly over $100, that I've seen. Some of the more common homo morph Tesseras are down to around those prices too but there are still quite a few morphs that last year was the first year homos were produced, and even still some that have not been done yet. Those are still being offered at high prices and probably will be for a year or two after being introduced.

I saw a guy trying to sell juvie coral ghosts for $1200 at the Hamburg reptile expo a few months ago... they were very pink but still

Not to get off track here, but the only snake I would spend more than $100 on is an Eastern Indigo. But I still couldn't bring myself to pay $1000 for a snake.

I am not a breeder, just a hobbyist, so I do understand breeders paying more for animals that will hopefully recoup their investment. And I am thankful for breeders who keep this wonderful hobby thriving and improving.
