Let me set up the scenario for you before I ask the question.

Last year I was planning on breeding Draco for the first time, even though I didn't know what the "H" I was doing! ( Still don't! ) I didn't brumate Draco because I THOUGHT it wasn't as necessary for the male.

Then I found out HE was a SHE! She laid 5 slugs. So when I got home after vaca I tried to breed HER to some my friend's males. Her males were mostly juveniles but we tried anyway under VERY close supervision. We tried her juvie classic, a snow blizzard that we were TOLD was female ( but after the experiences I have had with sexing, we decided to give it a go just in case what we were told was wrong! ) We even threw her milk snake in there with her for a dance.

The same thing happened with every "male" we introduced her to. She acted right, targeting in on them and twitching with every new snake. She even actively pursued the milk snake! And every "male" acted the same with her.
"Gaaaaaahhhhh! Let me outta here! I'm too young to die!"

We only introduced her to each snake once. Then we sorta gave up. It was awfully late in the season, we weren't really prepared, yadda, yadda, etc.

I'm trying to not have a repeat of last year. Should we not have given up so early??? Should we have kept introducing them to each other?????

Any advice for first timers would be appreciated here. Even if you tell me not to do this!

I don't brumate, but I've had success by repeating introductions (they get the idea in the end!) and also by simply leaving a pair together for a couple of weeks. In fact I prefer the 'honeymoon' version, and had no ill effects apart from being more likely to get bitten when removing two hungry snakes from the one tub for feeding
