Hypomelanistic. Reduced black pigment. It's also called Hypo A.
There are other types of hypo effects, such as Sunkissed and Dilute and Lava, but no one ever calls those Hypo B, Hypo C, etc. When someone says a snake is hypo, or het hypo, they mean Hypo A.
You should order The Cornsnake Morph Guide. It's a book that is published once a year, in January usually, which covers ALL the cornsnake genes, including new genes that are in the process of being proved out. It will also teach you how to figure out the genetic results of breeding any two cornsnakes. It's very interesting, and has tons of beautiful pictures, including many from people you will know from this site!
The new 2011 Morph Guides have just been shipped. I should have them for sale this next week - whenever they arrive. I can't wait to see the new one myself!
Then here is a genetic calculator that is fun to play around with and will help you become familiar with the different genes, it is useful even if you don't intend to breed. http://www.corncalc.com/
Some of the links on there will explain more about what effect the different genes have and how they work. Also if you click on the link to Ians Vivarium, it has an extensive picture morph guide too.
