Ok so it's not that I'm too lazy to the measuring-the-snake-with-a-string thing, it's more that I'm a big geek LOL Is there any software out there that will measure your snake on your computer with a photo and a known-length object in it?

I've googled it, and it seems there used to be one, just wondering if anyone has the software and if I should just get off my caboose and get some string out :D
 
yes, I use the serpenwidgets program. I had to re-download it onto my new computer recently, and saw that it wasn't working on the regular site. I found it on another site however, I'll look for it.
 
What a cool program. I've been having such unsatisfactory results trying to measure with a ruler or "tape" -- the snake will just not comply (big surprise, right?) and I'll end up having to estimate anyway, and I've been very off the mark. This thing was really helpful. Turns out he's just over 19 inches, which is what I originally suspected. Nifty!
 
Finally, I managed to resize the only photo I have of one of my snakes with a ruler, to a size that works with the program and yipppeee, I got a measurement of my snake. Too bad it is the very first snake I had and is now deceased.

At least now after at least 8 mths of fooling around with the program(I know pathetic) I have it all figured out and can not photo all of my snakes with rulers or the like and get accurate measurements!!!:dancer::dancer:
