Mentor needed

Is there an experienced snake breeder willing to be a mentor for an 8th grade student who is breeding a couple of corn snakes (successfully), and is going to be selling the baby snakes? The student is required to do an 8th grade project and is already spending many hours on the snakes. A mentor is needed for occasional questions and advice and will be credited in the display at the end of the school year. Thanks!

What is the coloring called?

I believe the pattern of this snake is motley (no checks on the bottom), but I'm no sure what the coloring is called. The dad is striped with brown and orange and a little yellow, mom is grey background with dark grey motley pattern. Anyone know what the coloring is called?

Do you have pictures of mom and dad? Just going by your description, sounds like dad is normal/classic and mom is anery, which would probably make this baby a normal/classic.

I'm game to be the mentor if the student wants me.

The snake looks like a normal motley. The Dad sounds like a normal stripe, but could be a pin-striped motley. The Mom could be either an anery motley or a ghost motley, but photos might help tell us exactly what morphs they are.

Here are the snake family photos

Here are photos of, top to bottom: mom, dad, and another baby. Most of the babies look like the one at the beginning of this thread, but a few look like the pink one.

Mom is an anerythristic motley at worst and possibly a dark ghost (hypomelanistic anerythristic) motley. Dad looks to be a normal stripe, but does bare a striking resemblance to a terrazzo. The "pink" hatchlings are amelanistic motleys

Clarification on the normal/classic

Thanks for the info! About the baby at the top of the thread, we thought that normal coloring had darker or black outlines to the saddles. Most of the babies' saddles seem to have just a solid color. Are these all actually normal/classic?

Thank you, Susan!

Thank you so much for volunteering to mentor! We'll let you know and/or post when questions come up.

The motley pattern tends to reduce the amount of black border around the saddles. It takes selective breeding to bring the borders back with any regularity.

Im game for mentoring, if you feel the need for any more.

You should tell this student that he has some awesome looking snakes! That stripe is killer!

I will say that the male certainly looks terrazzo. I have a couple terrazzos and that one is a dead ringer for the gene. I would bet money on it.

I agree but the terrazzo I am working with doesn't have the patterns in it... man sure does look terrazzo ish though! Only breeding tests will tell!
