Hello all, i was just trolling the forums, kinda bored at the moment; anyways i thought it would be cool to start a METAL thread: where any all listeners of metal/hard rock music could stop by and chat about their favorite bands/albums/performances or whatever. And first of all i would like to immediately dispel the common misconception that everyone who listens to metal or hard rock is the dude in the corner by himself with the all black attire, long greasy hair, and tattoos of swastikas and pentagrams. Personally i find this steretype a little offensive and, in my experience, not true at all. Sssooooo, without further ado, let the METAL begin!!! :twoguns::uzi::angry01::realhot::fullauto::flames: \m/ Oh, and by the way, a few of fav's include: DevilDriver, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Metallica, and Every Time I Die :)

I don't have tats of any kind-- swastikas, or pentagrams. Sabbath really set the whole thing in motion. The Ozzy-fronted Sabbath albums were really the... well, you know.

I'm a little older than most but.......

Does Blue Oyster Cult, UFO, Uriah Heep, Iron Maiden count?

I was more into melodic metal. Queensryche, Savatage, Fates Warning are my favs. But I also have Man-O-War, Armored Saint, and a few others.

I was listening to some "Imaginos" BOC (late era) earlier today. I'm a big Maiden and UFO fan too. Michael Schenker kicks major butt...

Fates Warning are in a class by themselves. Can't argue with Dream Theatre either...

I forgot to mention....

Dream Theater.
One night in the 80's MSG was playing at the Beachem Theater in Orlando when it caught fire. I wasn't at the show but was at a local bar. MSG came in and was allowed to jam. They invited anybody up on stage and I got up and played Anytime with them.

Suh-weeeet! Was McCauley the singer then (of MSG)?

(I preferred them with Barden and Bonnet.)

Yes he was....

some of the nicest guys you wanna meet. Savatage was like that as well. I knew a guy who would get me backstage at shows. Billy Sheehan, top notch. Yngwie Malmsteen, a total d*#k.

I'm a big fan of Mamsteen, but I'm not suprised. I met him once when he was super-chubby coming off of coke. He was a jerk. I met Schenker a few months later, and the guy seemed to be a reg'lar guy.

Certified metal head here.

Iron Maiden/Bruce, Iced Earth(Barlow), Manowar(they rock so hard live!), Megadeth, Children of Bodom, Slayer, Metallica(picky), Dethklok(hee!).

That's just scratching the surface. :)

I love the man's music....

but he is a member. Last I heard he was facing time for chasing his wife around with a Glock. Adrian Vandenburg is good I like him as well.
I met Sheehan when he was in Mr. Big, Paul Gilbert came off as an a** at first, but was just a quiet dude. I loved him in Racer X.

Paul Gilbert's "the man." "Racer X" is THE group...

I'm not a huge fan but my little brother has me listening to Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom (he actually just saw them live earlier this month), Lamb of God, Slayer and a few others...but don't tell anybody I just said that! :sidestep:

Oh hell ya i forgot to mention Dethklok, theyre pretty awesome and the show is amazing!!!
ya Ozzy definitely spearheaded and brought about the genre, but since im kinda in the middle of the New Wave (click the link if you dont know what that is) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_of_American_Heavy_Metal the only really "classic" bands i listen to are Maiden, Judas Priest, and a lil' Blue Oyster too; but hey that sounds awesome with the stage lighting on fire!!! XD

GUILTY AS CHARGED !!

I grew up in the 80's listening to all of the metal hair bands like,
Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Kiss, Triumph, Dio, Stryper, Accept, Firehouse, Tesla, Wasp, Motley Crue ............just to mention a few.

HOLY HELL thats impressive!!!! just 1 question, why multiple copies of the same thing?? also: i didnt see Death Magnetic in there?? but still thats very cool man!

I always thought I was a metalhead, but I really don't think I qualify.

However, I'll let you guys decide from my favorite bands:
Eisbrecher, Rammstein, Lacuna Coil, Celldweller, Lamb of God, Metallica, Nightwish, Godsmack, Spineshank, Tool, White Zombie and Zeromancer.

Maybe it's a bit too electronic. :p
