MILDEW PROBLEM

MO CORNFED

Ok, so my BP's viv has a "fake log" and a "fake plant w/ wood" apparently the humidity in the viv caused the log and would on the plant to get mildew, I instantly pulled out the stuff soaked and scrubbed, and am drying with blow dryer.

Do you think thats enough, or should I just get new stuff?:shrugs:

I would soak in a bleach/water solution. Then scrub and rinse completely before putting it back in the viv.

No, I wouldn't boil.

Nothing real technical for bleaching. I would put the log in whatever you are gonna soak them in. I use 5 gallon buckets that I got from Home Depot. Put in enough hot water (just hot from the tap) to completely cover the log plus an extra inch or so. Then put in a cup of bleach. I usually allow it to soak while I do other things. Then just rinse with plenty of cold water. Dry completely.

Bleach is the one thing that gets rid of mildew. It would probably even just scrub right off with a mild bleach solution. Like 10:1.
