Mini-Mander!

So I went outside with my boyfriend the other day, just flipping over rocks to see what we could find. There are TONS of red backed salamanders around here. Tons. So we were flipping over rocks and finding like 5 salamanders under every rock... then I saw this guy...

Thats so amazing and mini mander Is adorable I used to find manders everywhere when I was' younger butnot anymore its sad

I went herping with a high school friend (he's a salamander lover) for the spring migration this year. It was supposed to be a rainy night that night, unfortunately the weathermen were wrong, so we didn't see as many as hoped. However there was one area where we found probably 20-30 spotted salamanders, it was great. Also found 1 tiger salamander that night. Previous to that I had never found any salamanders, though I never really looked. I might have to try again next year!

I wish there were different kinds of salamanders around here. I mean, the red backs are super cute and all but there seems to be no variety in our yard.
